The Back Story:
As you may well note, this goat is, alas, not in a boat, though that would be a wonderful thing too. Goat is not opposed to boating, mind you; it is more a matter of finance and access to training that keeps him largely confined to land, though he does in some respects enjoy the relative safety of terra firma... none of that rocking of the thing beneath your feet and so forth. And he does know how to float (a useful skill his dear mother taught him as just a kid). It is also true that he has a cousin, known as Leonard Earl of Winterhaven despite his commoner upbringing, who did a stint in the merchant marine, and ancestors who immigrated from their native land by sea. Well now, though, come to think on it more, though he does dream of the sea, if he is being truly honest, this particular goat does have to admit, really, that he is more inclined to terrestrial pursuits, and is quite contented and cheery in his field of lanky grasses, wild flowers a-flowering, and bugs a-buzzing. Nevertheless, it is his position that it is always useful to dream of places exotic to one's natural habitat, and Goat intends to go on thinking of sailing lessons, or at least buying a rowboat to drop in the nearby pond. Maybe one day. Maybe one day... |
